O.P.T 4 Green Youth Conservation board

Well, I thought I would try to do something that I have not done with the blog as of yet, start a service project that everyone can get involved in.

Spring is rolling around, and everyone is ready to get out side and have some fun. Together with that rush of people comes lots and lots of litter. It is a dissapointing thing for people to go from dreary days spent inside in the winter to days outside in what is supposed to be a perfect spring environment--only to find trash in their favorite park or beach.

I propose that every family in the United States should take a walk to their favorite park/pond/recreation area, and take a trash bag along with them. Along the way pick up all the trash that you can. You will be suprised to see how quickly your bag fills up, and what things will be in it.

Really it should not take to long, at most an hour. We were able to fill a normal sized trash bag on the walk up to our local park in about 10 minutes--it ended up that by the time we got up there we had to empty our bags in order to have enough room to pick up trash at the park!
